Malbari Hotel-An Old Man's day dreams 7 ------World Cup at kakri Ground

I was early to reach the hotel and was waiting for others to arrive sitting alone was not my style, so tried to chat with malbari but he was busy preparing his tea and other little things so I was just dosing.I was thinking about the forthcoming cricket world cup which was to be held in Bangldesh Srilanka and India. I was thinking why the world cup is not held in Karachi I had read in a news paper that it costs millions of rupees to prepare suitable ground for the cup. I don't bilieve a word of this brain washing tactics. We already have very good grounds in Karachi.

I then and there decided that the final of the world cup would be held in Karachi and that too in Kakri Ground so I in my imagination went to the Kakri Ground to check the possibility of holding the cup final there.

The ground was once a play ground but our authorities had turned it into a center for the drug addicts so they can use the drugs there freely and without anyone bothering.

So I went to the person looking like the addict’s captain and told him that we wanted to play the cricket world cup there. He looked at me as if I was a run away from a mental hospital.

I tried to convince him to let us play there. After a few minutes he was convinced but he was not out of his mind, he demanded money to make arrangements for the game I asked him how much and he told me five hundred rupees and all his friends will enjoy the game without any tickets.

After much haggle the matter was settled for two hundred and that included cleaning of the ground and not disturbing the play.

Now the next question was who would play I knew the principal of the nearby Memon School. I went to him and he gladly agreed to send his school’s team to play.

Now the matter was choosing the opposite team. After a while the captain of the memon school team came to me to finalize the match timings and overs etc. I frankly told him about not having the other team he was so happy that all his teeth showed. He told that right behind the ground there were some makrani boys who were good at cricket and looked like West Indians so the match would look like an international event.

I agreed and told him to call the captain. So the boy ran towards the adjoining street and came back with an African looking boy. The makrani captain had came to get the details settled he told the match would be of twenty five overs.

One more condition was put forward by the makrani captain,he wanted his team to bat first because if they don’t bat first they lose interest and run away from the ground. The memon captain agreed to all this and told that the match would be with taped ball and not with hard ball.

The news of world cup in Kakri ground spread like jungle fire and boys and old persons started gathering in the ground, people selling eatables like pakora chana batata and paped etc also came right into the ground.

The stage was set for the big event. Both teams were in the ground. Spectators were there and many drug addicts were sitting expectantly on the side lines.

There was no question of a toss as this was settled before hand. The West Indies (makrani) team was to bat first. An old gentleman with white hair and white beard came forward and offered to inaugurate the event. Both teams agreed so he took the ball and threw the first ball. Spectators now numbering about 400 clapped loudly.

Now the actual match began in earnest. The opening pair of Makranis were good players and they threatened the Memon bowler to ball straight and within line and length otherwise he would be so well beaten up that his own mother won't recognize his face.
So the bowler was so frightened that the game became one sided and each ball got six runs. After about 10 overs the first wicket fell. So the match progressed and in 25 overs grand score of 250 runs was set .1st innings ended. Now the turn of the second team started. The second innings was not eventful till the last ten overs. Memons were 9 out for 235 runs in the last over.I may mention one event during this innings which is not seen in any international event. One stray dog picked up the ball and refused to return it at least 200 young boys ran after him. The dog took three full rounds of the ground before leaving the ball at the far end of the ground.

In doing so the dog had damaged the tape on the ball. Both the captains examined the ball and the empires ruled that a new tape must be wrapped so the question arose who would provide new tape. As both the teams were penny less. The argument took ten minutes, an old spectator offered ten rupees to buy a new tape roll. Thus the matter was settled and after a few minutes match resumed.

The match was decided in favour of the Memon team on very last ball and the batsman felt like Javed Miandad striking the historic Six in Sharjah.

Now the matter of prize cup arose. There were only tea cups of the nearby hotel. But finally it was decided thateach player of the losing team would pay 5 Rs each to the winning team as prize money within three days.

Suddenly I felt something hitting my head.I opened my eyes to see Ghafar Kapadia slapping my head to wake me up. I said to him that you waked me up and I missed world cup prize distribution at Kakri ground.
Now it was our regular time at the malbari hotel and by visiting the world cup my mood was very nice and my son had given a hundred rupees so I offered tea to all for including malbari to celebrate victory of Memons in World cup.

Islam and Science

CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE: ‘THE BIG BANG’ :

s. According to the ‘Big Bang’, the whole universe was initially one big mass (Primary Nebula). Then there was a ‘Big Bang’ (Secondary Separation) which resulted in the formation of Galaxies. These then divided to form stars, planets, the sun, the moon, etc. The origin of the universe was unique and the probability of it occurring by ‘chance’ is zero.

The Qur’aan contains the following verse, regarding the origin of the universe: “Do not the Unbelievers see That the heavens and the earth Were joined together (as one Unit of Creation), before We clove them asunder?” [Al-Qur’aan 21:30]

The striking congruence between the Qur’aanic verse and the ‘Big Bang’ is
inescapable! How could a book, which first appeared in the deserts of Arabia 1400 years ago, contain this profound scientific truth?

THE SPHERICAL SHAPE OF THE EARTH

Rights of Neighbours

"Do you know what the rights of neighbours are?" asked the Prophet. And then he went on to give a list:

"Help him if he asks for your help." "Give him relief if he seeks relief from you." Give him a loan if he needs one. Show him concern if he is distressed. Nurse him when he is ill. Attend his funeral if he dies. Congratulate him if he meets with any good. Sympathise with him if any calamity befalls him."

This tradition shows that we are not only supposed to have good will towards our neighbours but we should also offer practical help whenever they are in need. Nobody can be a believer, said the Prophet, if his neighbours pass the night hungry, while he has his stomach full.

This hadith tells us that nobody can be a true believer unless his neighbours feel secure from his hands and tongue. We are urged to be good and helpful to our neighbours in particular for they, being near, have more right to our goodness and assistance.

Such great emphasis laid by the Prophet on our good treatment of our neighbours shows that the aim of Islam is to awaken the springs of goodness in the human heart. If we can become good to our immediate neighbours, then that will be a guarantee of our being good to other people. For constant good conduct will surely develop a good moral character in us and that will surely reflect in our dealings with whoever we come in contact with.

If we observe the injunction of the Prophet in this matter, then without doubt we shall contribute to strengthening society with the bonds of love, affection and brotherhood.

What Excuse do I have then???

Memon Naat with Images Of Famous Mosques

I am too Busy---A poem Contributed by Farah Razzak

Everyday as i wake up at dawn
My mind start working the moment i yawn
There were many things to do, o dear!
That's why i hastily did my Subuh prayer
I didn't have the time to sit longer to
praise the Lord
To me rushing out after prayer is nothing odd...

Since school, i had been busy every minute
Completing my tutorials and handing it in
My ECAs took up most of my time always
No time did i have to Allah to pray
Too many things to do and zikir is rare
For Allah, I really had no time to spare..

When i grew up and started my career
Working all day to secure my future
When I reached home, I prefered to have fun
I chatted on the phone but i didn't read the Quran
I spent too much time surfing the Internet
Sad to say, my faith was falling flat...

The only time i have left is weekends
During which i prefer window shopping with friends
I couldn't spare time to go to the mosque
I'm too busy, that's the BIG EXCUSE...

I did my five prayers but did so quickly
After prayer, I didn't sit longer to reflect quietly
I didn't have time to help the needy ones
I was loaded with work as my precious time runs

No time at all to visit a sick Muslim friend
To orphans and elderly, I hardly lent a hand
I'm too busy to do community service
When there were gatherings, I helped the least

My life was already full of stress
So i didn't counsel a Muslim in distress
I didn't spend much time with my family
B'coz i thought, doing so is a waste of time...

No time to share with non-Muslim about Islam
Even though I know, inviting causes no harm
No time to do Sunnah prayers at all
All these contribute to my imaan's fall..

I'm busy here and busy there
I've no time at all, that's all i care
I went for religious lessons, just once in awhile
Coz i'm too busy making a pile...

I worked all day and i slept all night
Too tired for Tahajjud and it seemed not right
To me, earning a living was already tough
so i only did basic deeds but that's not enough..

No time at all, to admire God's creation
No time to praise Allah and seek His Compassion
Although I know how short is my life
For Islam, I really didn't strive..

Finally the day comes, when the Lord calls for me
And I stood before Him with my Life's History

I feel so guilty b'coz I should have prayed more
Isn't that what a Muslim lives for?
To thank Allah and do more good deeds
And the Quran is for us all to read..

Now at Judgement Day, I'm starting to fret
I've wasted my life but it's too late to regret
My entry to Paradise depend on my good behaviour
But I've not done enough nor did proper prayer

My "good deed book" right in my front
An angel opened my "book" and read out my plight.
Then the angel chided me....

"O You Muslim servant, you are the one,
Who is given enough time, yet not much is done
Do you know that your faith is loose?
saying "no time" is only an excuse.
Your "good deed book" should be filled up more
with all the good work you stood up for..

Hence, I only recorded those little good deeds
As I say this, I know your eyes will mist..
I was about to write some more, you see
But i did not have, THE TIME to list".......

Hadith Mubarak For Kids

વીણેલી વાતો - Pearls of wisdom

************************

A girl asked her mother one day ,"What jewellary i should wear so that I remain beautiful in both the worlds",her mother was wise and experienced,so she told her daughter to wear earings of good sayings written in our holy books. Her mother meant she should listen to good talks only.

her mother told her to wear bracelets of good deeds in her hands and if you dont have silver or gold ornaments in your ankles dont worry but dont deviate from truth.

In short you should gain jewelsof knowlelge so that the world becomes a better place to live in.

It is common knowledge that religious teachings add to worldly knowledge and education and knowledge msut be given to women so the world and hereafter become a better place for her
